When you download the Neurocad desktop service installer, your browser or operating system may flag or pause the download. The Neurocad installer is digitally signed. These warnings appear because the file is new and not yet widely downloaded, which security tools treat as low reputation. This is expected for early access software, and the steps below will let you complete the download and installation.
Browser warnings
Google Chrome
You may see a message that the file is not commonly downloaded.
Microsoft Edge
You may see a message that the file isn't commonly downloaded, triggered by the SmartScreen filter.
Mozilla Firefox
You may see a warning when the download completes.
Operating system warnings
After the download completes, your operating system runs its own check when you open the installer.
Windows 11 and 10
Microsoft Defender SmartScreen blocks files without an established reputation. You may see a blue banner reading "Windows protected your PC."
macOS
Neurocad Link is available for macOS (and Intel-based Macs). If you run into installation issues on an Intel-based Mac, email support@neurocad.com.
Gatekeeper blocks software it cannot verify. You may see a message that Apple could not verify the app is free of malware.
Installation requires administrator permission
Administrator blocks are different from security warnings. They mean your user account doesn't have permission to install software, which is common on company-managed machines.
You're facing an administrator restriction if a User Account Control prompt asks for an admin username and password, the Yes button is greyed out or missing, you see an Access Denied error, or the installer closes abruptly without completing.
On Windows, right-click the installer and select Run as administrator. If you don't have admin credentials, you'll need your IT team to enter them or approve the install.
If your company requires IT approval for software installs, reach out to us if you need documentation to support the request.
